On October 16th, 2007, 20th Century Fox released Jingle All The Blueprint – Family Fun Edition. This is the extended chop specially supervised by director Brian Levant. This runs at 94 minutes verus 89 minutes for the theatrical gash. This edition features the following additions…

1.) Instead of Howard going just after the woman in the car, he first sees another woman (Yeardley Smith) with a matching fur coat. He sees a TurboMan package in her bag and offers her money. She takes it and walks away. He takes it out and discovers that it is TurboMan’s sidekick, Booster. He then runs after the woman in the car.

2.) In the following scene of Howard traveling to different toy stores looking for TurboMan, the ‘Jingle all the Way’ song is replaced by “The Christmas Song”.

3.) A scene inside Howard’s GMC when they’re driving to Santa’s warehouse where it shows Howard saying his “We’ve yet to peer a notice of that supposed Turbo Man doll” sentence. The mall Santa doesn’t drawl his “Miniature Boy Who Santa Claus Forgot” song in the car.

4.) Additional dialogue in the warehouse, as well as the Mall Santa and all the other Santas singing a chorus of “Tiny Boy Who Santa Claus Forgot”.

5.) The rock version of “Jingle all the plot” plays as Howard fights the warehouse Santas

6.) An extra scene of Myron Larabee describing the Johnny 7 O.M.A gun to Howard.

7.) Additional dialogue between Howard and the cops at the warehouse.

8.) A scene with Howard riding home in a tow truck after his car had been stripped where he’s rehearsing how he was going to justify what happened to him to his wife.

9.) An alternate ending: instead of the ending at the parade, the film fades serve to Howard’s house. He turns on the lights on his tree and everybody is delighted. Liz says “It was so nice that you went to all that to gather him that indicate…. so what did you obtain me? ” It ends with a closeup of Howard looking terrified. This scene originally played following the credits (theatrical and home video versions) .

Personally I recall this edition cause I am a sucker for Director’s Cuts…plus I do like this movie alot. This Extended Gash is presented in it’s modern theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, a fullscreen version is not offered on this disc. If you like this movie and have the previous edition I would recommend upgrading, if you’re novel to this movie then this is the edition to accept.

Yes, “Jingle All the Device” is chock stout of dreadful acting and ridiculous situations, but hey, it’s a Holiday comedy, and a darn helpful one! And, for those of us who are really into Christmas shopping and have been on that search for the elusive, must have toy of the year, it really touches a nerve!

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Howard Langston, a workaholic father who’s failing with his family. He is constantly breaking promises and missing family events simply by being absent-minded and overly concerned with his business. When he shows up far too leisurely for his son Jamie’s Karate presentation, he realizes he’s got some major sucking up to do. Howard immediately offers to accept his son anything he wants for Christmas as a mercurial fix. But, runt does Howard know that the toy Jamie wants, the official Turbo Man action figure, is the hottest toy of the season! No stores in town have one, and tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!!

Howard gets an early inaugurate in the morning, arriving at a toy store that hasn’t opened yet and already has a mountainous crowd outside. Here, he meets his biggest competition, an unstable mailman named Myron (Sinbad) . Myron is also an inexperienced shopper whose son has asked for a Turbo Man figure. Both men are haunted and angered when everyone in the store mocks them upon hearing what they are looking for, and this is where their heated rivalry begins. Howard and Myron bump into each other at residence after set in their search for the evasive toy and continue to physically abuse each other at nearly every encounter, and every bit of it is quite hilarious! In addition to dealing with Myron’s attacks while searching for Turbo Man, Howard has to hold tabs on his intrusive neighbor, Tim (Phil Hartman), who is continuously making plays for Howard’s wife, Liz (Rita Wilson) . It’s not as confusing as it sounds, but it’s a lot for a man to have to pain about on Christmas Eve when he’s gotta meet his family at a parade later on that same day.

“Jingle All the Blueprint” is a gigantic Christmas adventure that is fleshy of laughs and mayhem! It’s not supposed to be “It’s A Amazing Life,” it’s fair supposed to be comic! And it is, if you have any sort of sense of humor at all and any experience with last-minute shopping during the Holiday Season! Arnold Schwarzenegger is quiet not a huge actor, but he plays the role of a helpless, inexperienced shopper rather well, and this is probably my popular of all his movies that I’ve seen. Sinbad is ample as nutty mailman Myron, and Phil Hartman steals the movie as Tim, the seemingly perfect single dad that all the neighborhood women want, but who mainly has eyes for Liz. And, upon repeated viewings, Jake Lloyd (who plays Arnold’s son) isn’t as annoying as everyone says. “Jingle All the Plot” may not be as magical as “Miracle On 34th Street,” but it collected qualifies as an annual MUST Seek Christmas movie for this viewer, and probably many others!

Updating this review for the “Family Fun Edition” 2007 DVD release, the newest edition, which maintains the enhanced widescreen of the previous release, includes a handful of modern extras along with a special, extended slash of the film. Unfortunately, having watched the extended reduce, I can definitely say I composed capture the theatrical version. Luckily, this recent release includes both. The scenes added into the extended version were deservedly slice from the film, and it also includes a different and completely nasty song in the early toy hunting montage, making the theatrical version distinguished more delightful. The only clear thing I can say about the extended version is that they recede the post-end credits scene to honest before the slay credits, and it fits so well that one wonders why it wasn’t placed there to launch with. The extras include “The Making of a Hero”, which is a somewhat gripping peer at the creation of the Turbo Man character, “Well-kept Kids”, a dazzling unnecessary interview montage with random kids on their wishes to be superheroes, and “Turbo Man Unmasked,” a short and mildly humorous mockumentary on the hero as a veteran (fictional) TV star that inspired a fictional action figure craze. Other extras include a photo gallery that is happily in a slideshow format and two DVD games. “Guess the Gift” is a somewhat fun game. I took less interest in the “Christmas Speed” shopping cart game, as it was one of those luck based games that didn’t rely mighty on your input as to whether or not you won or lost.

If you’re a fan of the film and don’t gain it yet, I definitely recommend the Family Fun edition. If you contain the 2004 release that already had the 16×9 enhancement, you may not feel it distinguished to double-dip for the sake of the extended reduce or modern extras. Also, all buyers should be aware that this edition doesn’t gain the previous extras (theatrical trailer and cast bios) .

This is Paramount’s first chance to release MY FAIR LADY on DVD; following a lapse in the distribution/copyright formerly controlled by Warner Brothers. No doubt they’ll later include it in an Audrey Hepburn box-set with their other Hepburn titles (”Roman Holiday”, “Funny Face” and “Sabrina” among them).

MY FAIR LADY is a true cinema classic; one of the last major Hollywood musicals and the film which finally netted director George Cukor a belated Academy Award for ‘Best Director’. Based on the long-running Broadway musical and G.B. Shaw’s “Pygmalion”, the story follows the grooming of Cockney flower-seller Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) into a lady of refinement by linguistics professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison). These two opposites could hardly be more different, until the day that Higgins admits he’s “grown accustomed to her face”…

With a star-studded supporting cast (Wilfred Hyde-White, Jeremy Brett, Gladys Cooper and Stanley Holloway chief among them) and the soaring score of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, MY FAIR LADY is the glittering jewel which capped off the era of the great Hollywood musicals. Seldom again would audiences be treated to such a sumptuous spectacle on the screen.

Despite a huge critical backlash (concerning Julie Andrews not cementing her most acclaimed stage role on film), Audrey Hepburn gives a spirited performance as feisty Eliza. She worked hard to get her limited singing voice into the necessary shape to meet the demands of the score, yet at the 11th hour was replaced by noted Hollywood “ghost singer” Marni Nixon. Rex Harrison, having starred in both the Broadway and London productions of the show, was confident enough in his performance to sing his songs live (via a hidden microphone). Stanley Holloway–another veteran of the stage show–also triumphantly reprises his role for the screen.

Warner’s previous double-disc Special Edition release (using the 1997 restored print of the film) was quite definitive. I can’t imagine how Paramount is going to top that release–unless they perform a new remaster of the 1997 print. Still, MY FAIR LADY is one of those movies which deserves to always be in circulation, constantly enjoyed and discovered by new audiences. I can only hope a shiny new Blu-ray release is just around the corner…

EXTRA FEATURES:

* Audio commentary with restoration experts Robert Harris and James Katz, art director Gene Allen, and singer Marni Nixon

* Vintage featurettes, footage and audio

* Alternate Audrey Hepburn vocals

* poster and lobby card galleries (with Rex Harrison radio interview)

* “Comments On A Lady”

* trailers

Professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) who specializes in the English language makes a bet with Colonel Hugh Pickering (Wilfrid Hyde-White) that he can take someone who speaks with a lower-class language and by correcting the speech can pass off as upper-class or royalty. Overhearing this bet is a flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn); she wants to work a flower stand. But they will not take her unless she can speak more “genteel”. Professor Higgins takes up the challenge.

Will he succeed?

What does her father (Stanley Holloway) thing finding that she moved in whit the two professors and did not want any clothes?

This is a musical version of the movie Pygmalion (1938), based on a play by George Bernard Shaw.

As people find that music and movies bring memories of the time in which they heard or viewed it. His movie has a meaning to me as I too was in love and found myself singing “On the street where you live.” One of the strengths of the movie is that many of the songs instead of being classical and just stuffed into at odd times actually are songs that you would initiate in your life and they did so in the lives of the characters in the movie.

This is one of the few films that were just waiting for Blu-ray to be perfected.

Van Wilder was one of those comedy movies that had some over the top humor that was crazy and often really childishly uninteresting, but that is what made it a gargantuan comedy classic. Of course, the studio went abet to the well to cash in on Van Wilder’s cult following by makeing Van Wilder 2, The rise of Taj. And getting Kal Penn attend to revive the role of Taj gave them what they belief was a green light to bring Van Wilder succor to the enormous cover. But, they should have went strait to DVD because now they will never sell one after a few valiant souls (like me) wasted my money to notice this in theaters. Objective not silly, and the anecdote line was thin, and what Happened to Taj’s girl from the raze of the last movie, and this is fair a hint at the problems.

The chronicle, if you haven’t figured it out, is based around Taj, the secretary/understudy of Van. Well, I guess Taj graduated from Coolidge and is now going to Camford in England to net a Doctorate and work as a teaching assistant, following in his fathers footsteps. Well, He doesn’t invent the “fox and hounds” fraternity, so he makes due with the characters he meets at the space he was sent to “the Barn” And, All of these people are “loosers”, and Taj takes them on as his fresh Fraternity naming themselve “[...]“. Of course, in revenge of the nerd style, the [...] are taking on the Fox and Hounds (as well as other Fraternities) in a campus competition. As we soon stare, the gang of loosers are actually intelligent in their gain ways (and the woman of the gang is smoking hot, does not fit the nerd role anyway) . Taj, as van wilder did, falls in care for with the woman that is dating their arch rivals. And the ending is the same too, Taj gets the girl and the team wins. They might as well have called this movie Revenge of the Nerds, because the overall myth line was the same, with impartial a few similarities to Van Wilder. The biggest change to this movie….ITS NOT Amusing. Effect your money, rent this one when it comes out if you must peer it, or sucker a friend to rent it for you. Best if you can fraction this agony with someone else.

Having grown up in Lake County, IL, Lake Forest has always held a bit of wonder and fascination for me. Admiring all of the fine houses and imagining what it must be like to live there was all I notion of as a young girl. After having watched this film though, I now watch that it has so considerable more to offer. I was totally unaware of all the history that Lake Forest holds. It was amazing to learn (or re-learn) about all the notorious people that have either passed through it’s (walls) and/or have made critical contributions to our nation. The cinematography was breathtaking also. It made me want to regain in my car and re-visit this fantastic town. It’s definitely a film the whole family can devour and should ogle together. I recommend it wholeheartedly. A+

Being a resisdent of Lake Forest for more than 10 years, I was challenging to notice what this movie had to offer. I was pleasantly surpised of how arresting the film was. Typically, documentaries are not my first choice when it comes to watching movies. The history of Lake Foreset had me completley intrigued and wanting for more. The film captured yearly celbrations, lovely scenery and interviews with residents that have made an obvious impact for the town and our country. This film should be a required viewing for all grade school children in the plot, so they catch another spacious opportunity to learn the history of Lake Forest. This film is immense for all audiences.

Even though the explain ran for several years, it was definitely one of the most underrated cartoons of the era. Unlinke most toons during that era, it actually had continuity with a gargantuan legend. The narrative begins with the ghastly wizard Wrathamon (while conquering villages for his master Sett) placing a spell on Conan’s parents & grandfather. The spell turned them to “living stone.” As such Conan, with the befriend of novel allies embarks upon a quest to undo the spell and assign the world from Sett.

Though the right track ‘Shine a Light’ from Exile on Main Street is not played during the (film version of this) location, it is an obedient title for this rock documentary as Martin Scorcese is intellectual a light so to declare on the Stones themselves, and this light shines grand sparkling and distinguished halt. But Scorcese is not as invasive as you might quiz. And this documentary/concert film does not feel like an show as worthy as a celebration of a band that smooth has some kick left in it. Instead of being overly reverent and even elegaic (as perhaps he was in The Last Waltz) Scorcese, takes a lighthearted & lighthanded advance. The first thing that Scorcese documents is the planning of the explain itself and the miscommunications that took situation between what the Stones wanted (a enormous venue) and what Martin wanted (an intimate one) ; miscommunications that could have been avoided had the band been available to actually meet face to face with Scorcese, but these and other miscommunications are treated more as running jokes than as respectable problems. Another running joke is that meticulous detail man Martin Scorcese (perhaps the only living director with a fame that rivals the Stones occupy) wants to know ahead of time what the situation list will be or at least what the first song will be so that he can idea his first shot, but the Stones maintain it a secret until seconds before the explain begins. Its droll even though no one really thinks for a second that with his arsenal of cameras on and off stage there is any chance that Martin Scorcese will not accumulate the steady shots he wants. But even while having some laughs with the band (at the bands and at his have expense), Scorcese is suitable at capturing what an grand task it is working with a band that is not stale to surrendering control nor opening up on camera (and Scorcese inserts several dilapidated interviews into the concert footage to document Mick’s ability to dodge questions with charm and Keith’s train refusal to play the q & a game at all) . The irony is that the Stones have been public figures for over four decades now but we really calm don’t know them very well. Scorcese does a very marvelous job at remedying this set by peeling help the Stones mystique and allowing us to peruse the right personalities slow the public performances. As with his Dylan documentary, he does this by going though the mountainous Stones Interviews archive and coming up with some very rare interview footage (considerable of it from Asian and European tv programs) . We gain to hear the notoriously reticent Charlie discussing an alternative career as a painter, and Ron Wood discussing Keith and how he is nothing like his public image, “Keith’s a very decent and very upright guy”. The interviews are culled from all phases of their career and are very brief and very selectively inserted between the live songs. Most of them are funny and/or ironic. Notably absent: any mention of Brian Jones or Mick Taylor or Bill Wyman.

No doubt there will be Stones fans who wish that Scorcese had teamed up with the ‘72 or ‘76 or ‘78 Stones, when the band was a bit more like Scorcese’s cloak outlaws, but better slow than never.

For Stones fans the thrill (and it is immediate and lasts the entire demonstrate) is having the feeling of being onstage with the Stones. Jack White, Buddy Guy, and Christina Aguilera all do guest stints onstage but we as audience members feel like we are onstage as well and this is the truly shiny thing about this film. The cameras are so cessation that we actually come by to stare the band play (and gape who plays which guitar lines) and hear the between song banter between band members. Scorcese allows us to squawk or reaffirm that Mick is without a doubt the leader of this band and his relentless energy and seductive charms seem to wow his bandmates as powerful as they wow the crowd. Micks age shows in the close-ups but his right instruments, his boom & his body, seem completely immune from the ravages of time. Keith, at times, seems a bit lost (as when Christinsa Aguilera steps onstage) and he misses chords in a few places, but Scorcese’s intimate style really serves Richards well. He is an intensely likable guy who loves what he does and peaceful seems to feel adorably awkward when he takes center stage to mutter “You Got the Silver” & “Connection.” He is in many ways Mick’s opposite. The chemistry of the band and especially the chemistry that exists between the Glimmer Twins is the thing that continues to fascinate and continues to evade documentation.

The reveal is intense and intimate and revealing. The guest appearances are well chosen. And the ending (which I will not roar) is perfect.

Note on the soundtrack: The 2 cd edition of the Shine a Light soundtrack will occupy four bonus tracks (”Paint it Unlit”, “Minute T & A”, “I’m Free”, & “Shine a Light”) .

Going to observe a concert nowadays takes all one’s resources. Sign prices often go up to three digits, and most likely the best conception is watching the band accomplish on a video camouflage. Sometimes people (myself included) are willing to disappear long distances to search for one’s common acts form onstage. Getting to view the biggest bands, like Paul McCartney, U2, and The Dave Matthews Band is difficult at best. Ironically, the cost of a note to glimpse The Rolling Stones play in Martin Scorsese’s documentary/concert film ‘Shine a Light’ is about the same as it would cost to gape a live concert when many of their featured songs were current. It ain’t like it customary to be.

However, the sheer power and able musicianship haven’t gone old nor retro, so the film is a precise treat for those of us who have all but given up on seeing them in person.

It is a testament to Scorsese’s directing abilities that the prologue, the intermittent vintage vignettes, and the conclusion are uncluttered. We catch our introduction to the band and the various methods of setting up the stage, the play lists, and the operating procedures of the filming. Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese go at the logistics in a method that has tension, but never garners animosity or loses affection for the project. In many ways, it is a labor of care for for both sides, but it is Scorsese who seems the most piqued by the ruin.

On stage it becomes a celebration. There’s no arguing these guys are dedicated. After an exuberant rendition of “All Down the Line,” an early song, Charlie Watts looks directly into the camera and with a few facial gestures lets us know without pretense how demanding it is to be one of the nimblest drummers of one of the most famed rock bands ever. Equally flexible is a slender Mick Jagger who serene struts his stuff as well as ever. Rising to the occasion is the guitar interplay of Ron Wood and Keith Richards, whose camaraderie outmatches Keith and Mick.

There’s proper will and fine vibes all around that never seem forced. The concerts procedure from San Bernadetto and Original York City, and the ragged concert is a encourage for The Bill Clinton Foundation. Approach the kill of the introduction, we acquire the frail President, his senator wife, Hillary, and several relatives who pick up a chance to meet and have pictures taken with the band. On stage, they’ve never seemed happier. The energy has always been there, but the warmth between the band members seldom has seemed more cohesive. This concert shows them having fun, almost like they’ve taken themselves too seriously in the past. Never has Mick Jagger seemed so willing to portion the stage. There are moments that Keith is front and center with Mick off of the venue. Then, Mick gets almost deferential with guest guitarist, Buddy Guy, and singers Jeff White III and Christine Aguilar. Even the aid up members in the brass fraction, the dancer-singers, and the other musicians gather the spotlight. As Keith says in a fairly fresh interview, “I don’t Assume when I’m up there. All I can do is feel,” and more simply, “We treasure what we do.” (Yet, I couldn’t abet but scrutinize Mick finish in the middle of the stage while he was singing “Jumping Jack Flash” as he was in the sites of a sparkling fan’s report cell phone. Some things never change.)

After a astronomical catalog that forty-five active years can garner, they bring a lot during their vintage performances. The play list? Well, there will always be a bone to win, but what makes the “light shine through” is their ability to play any song and compose it really rock. I was surprised, for instance, by the number of songs they drew from `Some Girls,’ which happened to be my first Stones’ album, but while I don’t reflect it’s their best selection, I loved what they did with it in concert. Besides several tracks from `Some Girls,’ they grasp highlights across the board, but showcase variety in their repertoire. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash, as an opener, “Tumbling Dice,” “Brown Sugar,” and “Commence Me Up” are The Stones playing tremendous, but, then, “Far Away Eyes” is a sample country serving that is contrasted with blues numbers like “I’m Free”. Acoustically, they play impartial blooming with “You Got the Silver” and “As Tears Go By”.

For a concert movie, they unruffled know how to expose everybody a satisfactory time. They are vintage rockers: composed, seasoned, but level-headed with a kick after all these years.
