If you appreciate a salubrious chronicle adventure and astounding animation then you will like this DVD dwelling. The astounding scenery, storyline and characters procedure you into their lives. Sadly this is not the entire version of the corpulent myth saga and I am mild hoping that the makers of this fabulous fable will complete it soon. No matter what obtain this DVD you will not regret it!

Heroic Memoir of Arslan is an absolutely handsome anime visually with an sharp yarn, when I first saw it I was a exiguous leery, I generally recall newer animes to older ones like this but it was well worth getting. It is visually resplendent and unlike some animes where you secure this sparkling screen art but the anime its self is not nearly as detailed, what you gape it was you gain. The narrative is also astonishing, a fantasy that takes area in extinct Persia, war, political intrigue and all that fun stuff. With all that said the anime definitely has its quirks and it ends on a cliffhanger. So if you’re not into quirks and cliffhangers that will probably never be finished this definitely isn’t for you, but if you can over leer those things and simply be pleased a friendly fantasy anime then you should gape about checking this one out.

Well… here’s the deal…

Buy,Download, Or Stream Blade Runner! Click Here

Blade Runner stands as one of those films whose editting and final cut were always a subject for debate. As you may know there are two known cuts of this film: the original theatrical version (shunned by many who claimed it was a producer’s cut who did not believe in Scott’s true vision) and the director’s cut (which is not really the director’s cut… it is more a screenplay’s cut… with some changes who merely unmade some of the things the producers did on the previous cut).

It is this second version that you will find here (while the first version is no longer available) with a face lift… a new transfer… better sound… and that’s it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Blade Runner! Click Here

In one way, this version is badly needed because all the previous Blade Runner DVD incarnations come from the first years of DVD – when you didn’t even have a decent menu. And since the DVD technology has evolved a lot since then… why not a new version of Blade Runner, right?

But…….

The mystique surrounding Blade Runner says that director Ridley Scott never REALLY got HIS REAL version of this film. And more… A such an important and much loved film like this should have lots of extras to bring a new light to a film that is so fundamental and trendsetting.

And it seems that after 25 years, all the legal problems preventing all this from happenning were really sorted out between the film’s former producers who battled for years for the film’s rights.

And now, with all problems solved, we know that in 2007, we’ll have that multi-disc version all the fans always dreamt of.

SO, THE DEAL IS… IF YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT THIS VERSION, BUY THIS EDITION. The good thing is you won’t even go through those stupid snap cases anymore. Even if you already have it, the better image and sound on this release will certainly make up for it.

BUT IF YOU CANNOT BE SATISFIED WITH ANYTHING LESS THAT THE WHOLE MULTI-DISC EDITION COMPRISING ALL THE VERSIONS AND TONS OF EXTRAS… forget about this version and wait a few months for the longer, bigger, more complete, celebratory, multi versioned, multi disc set that will give you the FULL BLADE RUNNER deal.

It will cost more, naturally, but we’ve been saving money for it since our childhood, right? ;-)

I’m a big fan. So I’ll wait. This version is a quick, just and much needed repairment: a great new transfer (with no extras) for those who just want the film. An entry level I’d say. And I think it is good that Warner Home Video has this version for those who just want the film – at bargain price.

But more is coming in 2007. In full!!

So, I’ll wait impatiently!!!!!

I fully agree with the previous reviewers. I already have the original 1992 Director’s Cut and have been waiting ages to upgrade it. However, now that the producers have finally settled their legal problems, we are being deluged with a surfeit of Blade Runner editions. This is the first and the least promising of three planned editions. The 1992 Director’s Cut is a compromise cut. This barebones DVD is the same as the previous DVD except that it has been fully restored and given an anamorphic remastering.

Following this edition, there will be another entitled, “Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner: The Final Cut,” to be released in early 2007 to mark the 25th Annversary of the movie, which will include newly restored scenes and will be Scott’s final word on the film. Then later in 2007, there will be the “Ultimate Blade Runner” which will contain all 4 versions of the film, the original U.S. theatrical cut, the expanded international theatrical cut, the 1992 Director’s Cut and the 2007 Final Cut, all fully restored and in anamorphic transfers plus tonnes of extras. In addition, Blade Runner will also be released simultaneously on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats.

Buy this with your eyes open. It is recommended only if you’re a completist or have only passing interest in the film. This edition will have a limited run of just 4 months before it is withdrawn prior to the arrival of the next edition.

As others have mentioned, this is perhaps the only pro-war film ever made about our involvement in Vietnam, either at the time of the war or since.

Pretty considerable these days, nobody espouses a pro-war stance on the Vietnam conflict. It was not a “valid” war, after all, and the war will always be fragment and parcel with the agony of America’s social chaos in the slack 60’s and early 70’s. However, at the time, the social battle lines were well defined between the peaceniks and the hawks; those against the war, and those all in favor of it. Without the thirty-plus years of hindsight to support them keep this conflict in perspective, the hawks were fine gung-ho. Likewise, the the peaceniks, who understanding that if we fair “like each other” everything would be alright, looks elegant naive and childish. If only the world were so simple.

Like the war, this film engenders strong feelings in those who discover it. The DUKE was a known hawk, and you can behold it shine through in every line, and in every scene. Like most hawks at the time, I suspect that The DUKE simply opinion Vietnam was objective like any other war (most likely, World War II), and it was incomprehensible to them that anyone would be against it. The film, in turn, reflects the hawk viewpoint.

In other words, you could substitute the Vietnamese with the Japanese in WWII, and the film would be more or less the same (well-behaved, upstanding Americans vs. broad terrible empire) . The retract of the enemy general is pure WWII melodrama. The character of Petersen, the “scrounger”, is also a stock character from a WWII movie. The staging of the action, the commando raid, blowing up a bridge, etc., all cry WWII.

DUKE co-directs, and despite being filmed in Georgia (which looks nothing like Southeast Asia!), the results are really heavenly qualified. The raid to remove the enemy general is humorous, but tense and challenging nevertheless. The characterizations are solid. The film flows nicely, and isn’t too long or too short. The cinematography is workable, and at times, even impressive. There’s plenty of action, too!

When you observe DUKE react to the child running from helicopter to helicopter looking for Petersen, you cannot relieve but have respect for this film. Certainly one of the best endings in American film history follows. Politics and anti-war sentiment of today’s PC society aside, this is a ample war film that honors the best of the best; the Green Berets.

Let me bewitch a moment and say a word or two about David Janssen’s role as George Beckworth, the reporter for a left-wing and anti-war newspaper. The character is a dinky too clear, and at first, a miniature too strong on the anti-war sentiment. His conversion was a puny too predictable, but the handling of his conversion to pro-war is very well-handled. Ultimately, I consider it was a believable transformation, and this is due entirely to Janssen’s talent. In the hands of another, less skilled actor, the Beckworth character could have been a colossal sore point, but Janssen makes Beckworth a composed force, a wall of anti-war sentiment needing to be erroded away by the reality of the residence he finds himself in. In many ways, I reflect Janssen’s underplayed come for Beckworth makes him seem more genuine, and ultimately sells the character. It helps sell the movie too, despite our recent perspective on the war.

Appearing in supporting roles are Jack Soo (Chop Yemana on “Barney Miller”), George Takei (Sulu on “Star Lumber”), and Bruce Cabot. Cabot had starred in a vast many films, and “The Green Beret” is one of his last. He was a well-liked DUKE co-star, appearing with DUKE in “Hellfighters”, “Mammoth Jake”, “Chisum”, “The War Wagon”, “In Harm’s Scheme”, “McLintock!”, “Hatari!”, and others. Cabot is probably most notorious for rescuing Fay Wray from King Kong. Also on hand is The DUKE’s son, Patrick Wayne. Patrick appears as the commander of a Seabee team, following in his father’s footsteps (DUKE starred in the celebrated homage to the outfit, “The Fighting Seabees”) .

DUKE fans should try to locate a copy of the video “No Substitute For Victory” (available on this dwelling), in which DUKE hosts a right-wing documentary gape at our reasons for fighting in Southeast Asia. Watching this documentary after the film will give the viewer recent insights into the thinking of the hawks at the time, and their residence during the Vietnam conflict.

If you ever read Gustav Hasford’s “The Short-Timers” (which “Stout Metal Jacket” was based on) you know how he felt about this movie: “Let’s gape the Duke and Mr. Sulu karate-chop Victor Charlie in a Kodicolor fantasy about Vietnam.” In other words, he concept it was bunk. So does everyone else on the left, who have bought into the fable that Vietnam was a purely guerilla war and that the human-wave assaults employed by the NVA/VC on Col. Kirby’s camp in the film would never have happened in exact life. In point of fact almost 90% of the fighting in Vietnam was of the ancient type in the Central Highlands or the valleys (”We Were Soldiers”) while only 10% of the troops were employed in the rice paddies you peer in movies like “Platoon.” Whenever the NVA fought out in the begin, a la the Tet Offensive, they were well and truly beaten, but their leadership was ruthless and understood that by trading 5 Vietnamese lives for one American, the U.S. will to fight would eventually smash. They knew the American public had only tepid benefit for Vietnam and would not gather the losses. The result, of course, we all know. Hanoi Jane what she wanted and so did Uncle Ho. Too abominable Jane didn’t go attend in say, 1975 and employ some time in a re-education camp. They could have taken pics of her in a tiger cage, eating bugs and rotting from typhus.

If you are reading this you probably know the tale of the movie.

John Wayne’s Col. Kirby and his elite Special Forces “A” Team (no, not the one with Hannibal and Face and B.A. Barracus) is sent to Vietnam to assign deplorable camps which offer protection to the local farmers from the murderous Viet Cong (whose crimes against their enjoy people are well documented here) . The soldiers direct the locals how to fight while providing basic medical care and 20th century improvements to their primeval arrangement of life. There is the usual large John Wayne type battle as the VC try to overrun the camp, followed by a commando raid deep into enemy territory, and a tragic-heroic ending. But the movie is more than the sum of its parts. It is not mere entertainment, it is personal propiganda, designed to note the Duke’s argument for why America was fighting in Vietnam at all. The only failing is its sappiness and jingoism, which execute it easy for opponents to ridicule. But making fun of it doesn’t bewitch away the fact that the Duke’s argument was based on something he is rarely credited for — human decency. What “accurate” did we have in Vietnam? I guess the same “accurate” we had to land on the beaches of Normandy. We had no “legal” at all — it was unprejudiced the “legal thing to do”, to abet a terrible government (South Vietnam) against a mighty worse government (North Vietnam) that feeble methods like mass killings of teachers, civil servants, nuns, missionaries, and village chiefs to destabilze the South and forcibly unite the country. You can argue about the legitimacy of taking sides in a civil war all day, but any country that uses methods like burying people alive and raping women to death as a matter of military policy probably deserves to be opposed, yes?

Anyway, let me catch a moment to say I Savor THIS FREAKIN’ MOVIE. Growing up, wonderful weak Washington D.C. Channel 20 (remember when you only had ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and your one local channel? Channel 20 was ours) played this movie, (along with “The Battle of the Bulge” and “The Bridge at Remagen” and some other classics) about once every other day. Even the view of it brings a smile to my face. Here was a guy, John Wayne, who had the guts to get a film this flag-shakingly good waft at a time when patriotism was growing unfashionable and millions of people were abandoning and spitting on the ideals that he embodied — which, by the contrivance, a few of us serene gain right. As a movie, “The Green Berets” has a hard ideology of anti-communism and shows the newfangled Special Forces as a sort of elite brotherhood consecrated to fight against it. I consider a lot of the abhor directed against this movie comes from the surity of Kirby’s (meaning John Wayne’s) beliefs. They are rock-solid and not up for debate or negotiation. He understands what will (and did) happen to Vietnam if the North wins the war, and fights bitterly to prevent this from happening, while simultaneously trying to regain over a stubborn journalist who has legitimate doubts about our involvement. No demand, this movie is jingoistic and predictable, a Vietnam war movie packed in WWII casing, but who cares?

Apparently the survival experts have spoken and MAN VS WILD = SUPERMEGA Groundless. That’s alright with me; I am an idiot who enjoys “dumbed down” productions such as Man vs. Wild moreso than I luxuriate in watching Survivorman, a present in which the adventurer (i.e. Les) sits around a campfire for 7 days while he plays his harmonica and does nothing else. Survivor experts are we??? …yeah…ok. I guess Surviorman is one who brings the excitement of hiking to the screen-he walks to a dwelling, camps in a status and does not go.

Bear Grylls (or should I say the cross Ed…) may camp in “hotels,” he may eat pieces of steak instead of badgers, he may jump through sheets of ice into a secretly hidden hot-tub beneath the surface of a “frozen lake,” he may even consume “smoke machines” to simulate the gaseous, boiling properties of lava, but he nevertheless is more of a survival expert than you and me. Any man or woman who goes into nature and puts his/herself into situations in which he/she shows inexperienced outdoorsman how to hurry quicksand, animal threats, etc. has my respect. I hiss the beetle grubs he eats are spurious as well…. After using these techniques he displayed for creating compasses, building camps, and even learning of the different types of insects and plants that are edible in regions I myself have visited (i.e. the Moab desert and the Badlands), there is no doubt in my mind that the things he teaches are relevant and useful. While he may not camp through the entire night or eat every single disgusting insect/animal upon which he appears to dine, he nevertheless shows people what to do in moments of emergency.

I have faith in Bear/Ed, his camera crew, and the survival experts with whom he explores. While I do not doubt that some things are staged (i.e. the disclaimer at the beginning of the expose states this), there is no method one can completely discount the demonstrate, even if that SURVIVAL EXPERT does not agree with the techniques he employs. Further, I have a hard time believing that the Discovery Channel would allow a present to air on their TV site that bore absolutely NO truth and applicability. That is simply ignorant. Acquire Grylls is a genius and he should not have to suffer verbal abuse from naysaying simpletons.

Even though the exhibit ran for several years, it was definitely one of the most underrated cartoons of the era. Unlinke most toons during that era, it actually had continuity with a gargantuan yarn. The epic begins with the injurious wizard Wrathamon (while conquering villages for his master Sett) placing a spell on Conan’s parents & grandfather. The spell turned them to “living stone.” As such Conan, with the encourage of modern allies embarks upon a quest to undo the spell and do the world from Sett.

Seems Like Veteran Time is tranquil one of my all time celebrated films. This film is almost too droll for its absorb edifying. A terrific throwback to the sophisticated comedies of the 30’s and 40’s updated for the 80’s. It’s too terrible that they honest don’t compose these kinds of comedies anymore. Goldie is in top do, Charles Grodin is so dry and fantastic and Chevy Wander should’ve never moved beyond this type of film. He and Hawn made magic before in Base Play and it was gargantuan to examine them together again. Win it! Oh and retain any search for out for Aurora, the Parks’ housekeeper and her nasty Chicken Pepperoni, no one can rep enough of it.

If you luxuriate in the humor and ease of Chevy Waddle and Goldie Hawn, you will admire this movie. Charles Grodin does a unbelievable job of playing the upstanding yet jealous husband in this racy romance. This movie has lifted my spirits, as well as my mothers and sisters, since it’s release in the 80’s.
