This is the second arc in the VOTOMS saga. Our heroes have escaped Uoodo city and now find themselves on a jungle planet, overall this is a good arc and very reminiscent of Gundam the 08th MS team in terms of setting.

I managed to find this a few days before its official release date and am happy to report that it finally gives this classic film the treatment it deserves. The video and audio have been restored from orignal source material with noticeable improvements over the previous DVD transfer. The picture has none of the scratches and dust that were present on the earlier version, and there is a Dolby stereo option as well as the original mono. The stereo soundtrack offers greater clarity and depth and there’s no low-level hum or hiss.

Besides offering a major improvement in the quality of the image and sound, the new DVD also includes a good selection of extras. There’s a 25 minute “Backstory” from AMC that is very informative and entertaining. There are two separate commentary tracks, one with Celeste Holm, Christopher Mankiewicz (Joseph’s son), and Kenneth Geist, the other with Sam Staggs, author of “All About ‘All About Eve’”. There are
promotional interviews with Davis and Baxter, four newsreels, a trailer, and a restoration comparison.

The restoration comparison is one of the strangest that I’ve seen. Instead of an audio track explaining the problems and processes involved in the transfer, there’s a series of screens with text printed on them. There then follows a series of comparisons from various versions of the film. There’s nothing really wrong with any of this, but considering the huge amount of time and effort that goes into a restoration of this magnitude, I expected something a bit more dynamic.

For any “All About Eve” fan, old or new, this is the DVD we have been waiting for, and at five dollars less than the original DVD, a real bargain.

Highly recommended!

Bette Davis made this movie in 1950 when her career was faltering;her last film was the insipid “Beyond the Forest” (now considered a minor camp classic by some.) “All About Eve” is relished by many who hail it as Davis’s all-time greatest performance(which is,in all fairness, arguable) as the forty year old magnetic actress Margo Channing. Many also feel Davis never looked better than she does here (her costume designer for this was the legendary Edith Head). The acting is genuinely excellent and the screenplay is music to the ears;as a consolation for not winning the AA,(it went to Judy Holliday)Davis received the coveted New York Film Critics Award for Best Actress.George Sanders is peerless as the poison pen critic Addison De Witt;( he won the academy award for best supporting actor.) Thelma Ritter is hilarious as the wise old companion of Margo’s who’s seen it all happen before. Celeste Holm gives an absolutely sparkling performance as Karen Richards(she tells Eve “I’m the lowest form of celebrity” she being the wife of playwright Lloyd Richards(Hugh Marlowe, whose wooden personality suits the role he plays.)Gregory Ratoff’s timing in the “bicarbonate of soda” scene is amazing and Gary Merrill is right on as the cynical Bill whose age (32) creates insecurity for Margo; she fears she’ll lose him to some young “babe”.The film holds up extremely well, considering it will be 50 years old next year.Marilyn Monroe has an amusing bit as a “Graduate of the Copacabana School of Dramatic Arts” Finally we come to the gal who played the “little worm” of the title: Anne Baxter. She is astonishingly straightforward and realistic in her interpretation of the louse;if she seems to be a bit on the drab side, it’s only because she’s underplaying to the “Queen Mother”, studying and using her idol as a stepping stone in order to get her name in electric lights and reign supreme as a Lady of the Theatre; in other words, she’s diabolical as HELL! If you’ve never seen this movie, you’re in for a treat. If you have’nt seen the DVD version do so;the print is crystal clear and adds immensely to the film’s viewing pleasure. This is Mankiewicz’s masterpiece and it won the Oscar for the Best Picture of 1950.

MGM released a DVD edition of “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” in the late 1990s, but it had few extras, a mono soundtrack, and a scratched print. Finally, MGM has given Sergio Leone’s Western epic the double-disc special edition it deserves. The print is restored and as clear as I’ve ever seen it, the sound is now an astonishing 5.1 Surround (listen to the glass falling off Tuco after he springs through the window in the opening sequence!) nineteen minutes of footage from the Italian original have been restored, and the discs are packed with extras. Even the packaging is great: a sturdy interlocking box, with the DVDs kept in the upper and bottom parts of the two lids. Also inside the box are cards containing posters for the film in five different countries.

The film, like most of the European Westerns of the 1960s, was critically disregarded in its day. The New York Times said of it: “the most expensive, pious, and repellent movie in the history of its peculiar genre. There is scarcely a moment’s respite from the pain.” It’s amazing how people missed the brilliance of this movie, which turned Western conventions upside down in such a wonderfully bizarre, European way. Now the film is considered a classic, and only Sergio Leone’s own “Once Upon a Time in the West” (another great 2 DVD set, by the way) has more respect in the genre. Leone’s strange style — stretched out time, obsession with close-ups and extreme wide-shots, focus on rituals, and use of Morricone’s wild and avant-garde score — are all in full force in this tale of three treasure-seekers searching for a cache of gold coins on the Texas-New Mexico border during the Civil War. The implacable and unflappable ‘hero’ Blondie (Clint Eastwood), the crazy comic bandit Tuco (Eli Wallach), and the calculating immoral sadist Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) cross each other’s paths amidst the senseless violence of the war. Leone perfectly contrasts the self-interested men with the greater backdrop of the tragedy of war. It’s a strangely emotionally affecting picture despite its focus on three men who are detached from normal society and seem not to care about anything but money. So many individual scenes stand out for their virtuosity that the movie a parade of “greatest hits.” Most astonishing of all is “The Ecstasy of Gold” sequence where Tuco dashes madly through a cemetery, looking for the grave that might hold the gold. Morricone’s music here is especially overwhelming.

Chances are you’ve seen the film and love it. What about the new scenes and the extras?

Nineteen minutes of footage have been restored that were never shown in the American prints. The scenes integrate perfectly into the film, and after seeing them once, you won’t be able to imagine they were ever missing. Among the scenes are Angel Eyes visiting a destroyed fort; Tuco hiring bandits to help him chase Blondie; Blondie and Angel Eyes having a face-to-face when they first set out together to find the gold; and some extra conversation between Tuco and Blondie in the desert. However, these scenes were never dubbed into English in the 1960s. Therefore, the DVD producers had to newly dub them. Eli Wallach and Clint Eastwood do their own voices. An actor named Simon Prescott does the imitation of the deceased Lee Van Cleef. Admittedly, Wallach and Eastwood no longer sound the same, but I couldn’t imagine someone else imitating their voices — it couldn’t have been done any other way. Prescott is pretty good as Angel Eyes, if a bit more gravelly.

The extras…

Disc 1 has audio commentary by Richard Shickel, a film historian who wrote Eastwood’s biography and also did commentary on Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America” DVD. His comments can be pretty dry, and he focuses mostly on Leone’s style and techniques instead of on background information on the filming itself. Nonetheless, there are many interesting insights, and Shickel manages to say a lot during the three-hour running time.

Most of the extras are on Disc 2:

“Leone’s West” — A 20-minute documentary about the making of the film. Includes interviews with Shickel, producer Alberto Grimaldi, author of the English dialogue Mickey Knox, and best of all, Eastwood and Wallach. There’s some very interesting info and memories here, mostly from Knox and the two actors.

“The Leone Style” — A 23-minute documentary, really just an extension of the first one. It spends more time on Leone’s unusual techniques. The same interviewees appear here.

“The Man Who Lost the Civil War” — A 14-minute documentary that was produced separately from the DVD. It makes no mention of the movie, but is about its historical backdrop: the disastrous General Sibley campaign in Texas. Sibley appears in the film briefly, and this short documentary gives the viewer an important insight into the world of Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes.

“Reconstructing The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” — An 11 minute look into the painstaking work involved with fixing the picture and sound, restoring the cut scenes, and re-dubbing it.

“Il Maestro: Ennio Morricone” — 8 minutes; mostly an interview with music scholar John Burlingame about the film’s score. At the end of the feature, you can choose to listen to an audio-only twelve-minute lecture by Burlingame that provides a much more in-depth analysis of the music.

“Deleted Scenes” — Two scenes couldn’t go back into the film. The extended torture scene had a damaged negative, so here it is in its rougher state. An apparently lost scene is reconstructed through text, stills, and clips from the French trailer.

Finally, there’s a gallery of posters, the original trailer, and MGM tossing in some gratuitous advertising for their other films.

Don’t miss this DVD. Not only is it one of the great action films and one the great westerns, but it’s the kind of release that the DVD format was invented for!

“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” is Sergio Leone’s epic masterpiece. While it is part of his Spaghetti Western Trilogy( all three films have different characters and plots), the film stands on its own and really shows you how good a movie can really be. This movie has it all. It has action, drama and even some comic relief in it. It is a timeless classic that is unforgettable. When I first saw it, I was a little kid and couldn’t truly appreciate it as I can now at age 22.

Blondie (The Man with No Name) isn’t your typical good guy. He mainly does things that suits his own agenda. However, when compared to the murderous Angel Eyes and the greedy Tuco, Blondie is a saint. This tale involves bloodshed, shoot-outs, search for treasure, and double-crossing. And it all takes place while the Civil War is going on, which makes things a lot more “interesting” for the notorious three. The West has never been wilder or more unpredictable than it is now. With an incredible score, excellent acting, and superb story-telling, this is one memorable film that you will never forget.

As I said in the beginning, the first time I saw this was when I was a little kid. When I just recently purchased this new edition of the movie, it truly was like I was watching it for the first time. Coming from a guy who isn’t a big fan of Westerns (I don’t mind them, but I don’t watch too many of them), I absolutely LOVED this film. In fact, I wanted to give it a standing ovation when it was all said and done due to how moved I was by it. This really is filmmaking at its finest. I wasn’t terribly impressed with Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America,” but he is absolutely flawless with this amazing and timeless Western. It is slower than the second film (”For a Few Dollars More”), but I think that makes this all the better. The build up of tension is much more present in this film, and you really get the sense that these characters are real people. Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach are brilliant in their roles, and a lot of props need to go to Lee Van Cleef as he is absolutely chilling in his role.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Good, the Bad and the Ugly! Click Here

This new edition really does the film the justice it deserves. The film has been restored to the director’s original vision as much as possible, giving you an extra 18 minutes. You will notice the added scenes as the voices have been re-dubbed (the first time you will notice this will throw you, as I think that specific part has the worst re-dubbing, but the other added scenes are done a lot better, even if you still notice it). The picture looks incredible and the sound is great. Extras included are commentary from Richard Schickel, a couple of documentaries and featurettes, poster gallery, deleted scenes and the original theatrical trailer. Along with the nice packaging, you get an 8-page booklet that includes pictures from the film along with Roger Ebert’s most recent review of the film. And, you get some mini-posters included inside the packaging as well. A superior edition of the movie, without question.

“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” is a pure triumph in filmmaking and should be seen by everybody at least once. Don’t let the fact that this is a Western throw you. I think this can be enjoyed by everybody, and even by those who are not big fans of Westerns. A film filled with authentic emotion and action, this is one that shouldn’t be missed by anyone. I LOVE this movie, and I cannot express that enough. -Michael Crane

Ed Wood (1924-1978) is generally regarded as the single worst film maker to emerge from Hollywood. This is not really true, for there were and are aplenty worse. But one thing has always set Wood above the pack, and that was his own unshakable faith in his talent. Unfortunately, the faith was misplaced and the talent was nonexistent–and although this Tim Burton film takes a slew of liberties with the facts of Wood’s life and career, it does a remarkable job of capturing them as Wood likely saw them through the filter of his own outrageous ego.

The film has two tremendous assets: the performers and its visual style. Johnny Depp leads the cast in the title role, and it is a virtuoso performance, for he entices us to like a man whose self-blindness would normally lead an audience to reject him out of hand; the performance is incredibly witty, wildly over the top, and yet it contains just enough pathos to allow us to relate to Wood on a human level. But the real stunner in the cast is Martin Landau, who picked up a Best Supporting Academy Award for his performance as Bela Lugosi, a legendary actor who was very much a forgotten star (not to mention morphine addict) by the time Wood befriended him in the early 1950s.

As with Wood himself, the film plays fast and loose with the facts of Lugosi’s life, but it nonetheless captures something very essential about both Lugosi and the Hollywood that destroyed him, something very elemental that transcends the weird comedy of the piece. And Landau gives the performance of his career; you truly believe that this is Lugosi before you, a strange but appealing mixture of faltering humanity and arrogance desperate for an audience now lost to him. Other memorable performances include Bill Murray as the inept and very la-dee-dah actor Bunny Breckinridge; Jeffrey Jones as The Amazing Criswell, popular “psychic” and occasional Wood actor; Lisa Marie as television’s “Vampira;” and Sarah Jessica Parker as Wood’s fast wife and occasional actress Dolores Fuller. Indeed, there isn’t a false note in the entire cast right down to the bit players and extras.

In terms of visual style, Tim Burton nails the very look of an Ed Wood film in glittering black and white–but working with a budget that Wood never dreamed of he merges it with a series of classic Hollywood idioms that lift the style out of Wood’s unfortunately flat style and into the realm of high art. In both look and direction, I strongly feel that this is Burton’s single finest film to date.

If the film has a flaw, it is that at times it recreates the flatness of an Ed Wood film a bit too precisely over too long a period–and the result can feel slightly dragged. And it is also a film that will register most clearly with those who have actually seen the films on which the movie focuses, so it may not appeal to the uninitiated. But for those who have the right eye, it is a remarkable film–and a film that desperately needs the DVD release that has been so repeatedly postponed. Wickedly funny, unexpectedly touching, extremely memorable… and strongly recommended.

GFT, Amazon Reviewer

Why make a movie about the man universally regarded as the worst filmmaker of all time?

Well, simply because the word “worst” does not even adequately describe Ed Wood. He was the absolute, undisputable worst, unrivalled in his mindless disregard for decent production values, coherent storytelling, credible scriptwriting, and competent acting. If he were just “the worst,” he would be no more than a mere footnote in cinematic history. But by single-handedly redefining the standards of ineptitude, Wood achieved that rare status of lovable loser. I mean, really, you have to admire someone who approaches his craft with so much grit and determination and so little talent.

It takes an A-grade cast to bring to life this story of Z-grade moviemaking. And we have one. Johnny Depp delivers a performance of fire in the title role, giving us a lot of insight into the character that Ed Wood was. Martin Landau (in an Oscar-winning performance) doesn’t just portray Bela Lugosi. By golly, he becomes Lugosi, almost convincing us that the horror movie legend was resurrected for this project. Sarah Jessica Parker, Jeffrey Jones, Bill Murray, George “The Animal” Steele, and Lisa Marie comprise the ensemble cast that portrays a motley crew of rank amateurs. Think about it, these people had to re-enact the shooting of Wood’s movies, looking serious but coming out funny, and doing all that with a straight face.Try that, folks.

Appreciate too, the film’s most memorable line. At the premiere night of Plan 9 From Outer Space, Wood declares with unqualified conviction: “This is it. This is the one I’ll be remembered for.”

Whether you’re a fan of bad movies or not, you simply have to see Ed Wood. It’s not often that a film comes along that makes you like a man who so admirably succeeded at being a failure.

An absolutely incredible package. I was lucky enough to get a pre-release copy and I will be ordering 2 more to give my Dad and my father in law. Any American who thinks these are rough times should watch this piece, read the unbelievable booklet and take stock of what true hardship is. I had no interest in this subject matter and yet i couldn’t stop watching, reading and listening. Breathtaking…

During my first view of this DVD I was surprised to see someone who I think is Elizabeth Gurley Flynn in the episode on the textile strike. Other sources say that she was there in 1934 as well as every other important labor dispute. If so it is an excellent and rare clip of the woman who is at the top of my list of most admired people. Anyone watching please take note of this dynamic woman.

This film is a solid sixties style tour in every aspect. It is a model of a “Mission Impossible’ adventure and resembles an early James Bond flick *(Thunderball) in the carnival scenes and LARGO (minus the eye patch and Spectre ring) is even in THIS picture! A professor (Edward G. Robinson) plans a jewel heist and has four experts handle the theft. All of this takes place in Rio during ‘Carnival’ and we are shown how professionals work together to obtain the goal. A Playboy, A Safecracker, An Electronics Expert and A Military Enforcer work as the team. There is tension and struggle here that will keep you interested and the melody of the Carnival will remain with you long after the picture is over. A neat little plot twist is included in the ending scene in Rome. Well worth the viewing, not the greatest epic ever made but certainly entertaining.

Grand Slam is a surprisingly enjoyable caper flick, and much more fun than any film with middle-aged men in tight black trousers and Klaus Kinski in a sailor suit has any right to be. I say surprisingly because anything that turns up on the Blue Underground label generally turns out to be a disappointment, but this globe-trotting diversion about a heist in Rio de Janeiro during the carnival looks great and is a much better piece of disposable entertainment than either the Rat Pack or Soderberg’s Oceanic efforts. Ennio Morricone’s main title is a particularly blatant ripoff of Burt Bacharach and the Tijuana Brass’ Casino Royale with il maestro’s own special flavoring, but only adds to the fun.

The announced release of the first season of the brilliant animated series, Samurai Jack, is a genuine cause to rejoice! Finally, a studio understands the value of an animated series in a timely manner. One can only hope that other studios will get the message that animated properties can and are just as popular as live-action series and movies.

Samurai Jack was created by the multi-talented and truly gifted Genndy Tartakovsky, who also created the fantastic Dexter’s Laboratory. Samurai Jack combines innovative and imaginative storytelling with a captivating animated style that is at once simple and evocative. The series tells the story of a Japanese samurai who has embarked on an epic mission to fight evil and save his world.

In the distant past, the samurai, who calls himself “Jack,” is the son of an emperor captured by the evil Aku, a shape-shifting wizard. The young Jack is sent away not only to survive but to train his mind and body in all forms of martial arts so that he will eventually be capable of vanquishing Aku.

Jack returns as an adult and reunites with his mother who gives him the sacred sword of the samurai to defeat Aku and rescue his father.

Armed with the sword, Jack is on the verge of a final confrontation with Aku when Jack is literally ripped from his own time by the evil wizard and hurtled thousands of years into the future — a future where Aku has already become the all-powerful evil lord who controls the world and all living beings.

Jack begins anew, working not only to right the wrongs Aku has visited on the population of this future world, but ultimately to return to his own time and stop Aku before the nightmarish future he has seen can even be realized.

Mature themes including the true meaning of courage, morality, responsibility, faith, despair, good and evil are explored as Jack struggles, and risks his life time and again to overcome what at first appears to be a force that is all-powerful and unstoppable. However, through Jack’s insights and pure heart, viewers come to realize there is hope, not just for Jack, but for any society in which just one individual risks it all against tyranny and evil.

I absolutely love this show. Samurai Jack explodes with a level of style rarely seen. The action, animation and stories are all fantastic. This is an extremely well done TV series.

The character of Jack is an immensely charismatic hero. His courage, resourcefulness and ethical code serves as a breath of fresh air in today’s sea of common, immoral TV characters. This samurai actually inspires me to better myself in the real world. Not many shows have that effect and even fewer cartoons do!

The only special features in this set I liked was getting to see what some of the voice actors looked like.

The chance to own the whole first season must not be missed by Samurai Jack fans. I await the next season on DVD eagerly. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in the following: samurais, clever plots, style.

Jon Reep won the Last Comic Standing reality show. His tag line during that competition was shaking his head wildly and saying Hiiiicckkkkorryyyy. Thank goodness, Jon has moved on from that line. This movie is his standup comedy performance in Charlote, North Carolina.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Metro Jethro! Click Here

I was very surprised by this DVD. Jon’s comedy has evolved rather nicely from that television show. He still tells stories and most of the jokes are about southern culture and small towns. But he’s honed his delivery with a lot of confidence and nice stage presence. The tone of his comedy centers around the differences between small town southern red neck and big city Los Angeles or Hollywood. The one hour main performance is funny.

The DVD includes a mixed bag of bonus features. The ‘out take’ jokes are really good. They’ve embellished them with comments from John, his father, and his mother. Funny moments, that I liked very much. Where the bonus features fail is two ‘comedies’ Jon wrote and acted in. They are really bad. Very not funny at all.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Metro Jethro! Click Here

Overall, I enjoyed Jon during Last Comic Standing (up to a point of overusing the Hickory schtick), and I find him even funnier in this standup performance. Probably wouldn’t watch this disc many times, but it’s great for a laugh.

The disc is not rated. I don’t remember him using any strong language – a strange thing for a current comedian. The jokes were not obscene. The performance appeared to be ready for cable television at a normal hour (not late night Comedy Central). As far as I can tell this is not a repeat of a program already played to death on television (unlike Mitch Fatel: Mitch Fatel Is Magical).

Compared to the earlier LD and VHS releases from Mystic Fire Video, this DVD is a major disappointment. The source print is abysmal, scratchy and spotted throughout, and there are a couple of jarring jumps in the soundtrack. This bizarre film’s best attributes are its atmospheric, moody cinematography; the Oscar-nominated set decorations by Boris Levin; and the sumptuous beauty of the then-20-years-old Gene Tierney. Unfortunately, none of these virtues are adequately presented on the DVD transfer. A pity.

After the critical and box-office disaster of the beautiful and sardonic “The Devil is a Woman”, Josef Von Sternberg had his artistic freedom taken away by the studio and was forced to direct works that were unsuitable to his tastes. He eventually could not even get work in Hollywood and he remains another sad example of genius wasted. He did however manage to work on one project that was worthy of his talent:”The Shanghai Gesture”.”The Shanghai Gesture”was an anomaly when it was released in the 1940’s.Directed in Von Sternberg’s exquisite baroque style,it depicted the decadent goings-ons of characters engaged in vice, drugs and revenge set in a gambling den.At that time pre-war Hollywood films were firmly entrenched in the genteel and “The Shanghai Gesture” was considered too daring to be made.Indeed the film could only be made with heavy censorship and this constitutes the film’s most serious flaw-some of the plot becomes incoherent due to the forced obscuring of some of the character’s motivation. But the film is still remarkable for how perverse it is ,considering the time period, and its subtle yet unmistakeable methods of portraying depravity.Unfortunately,”The Shanghai Gesture” met the same fate as “The Devil is a Woman” and not until it was rediscovered by the French was it appreciated as the masterpiece that it is.The only thing to be added is of the technical-its camerawork and photography are outstanding and it contains a very entertaining and large cast of whom three deserve mention.Victor Mature, very amusing as the sly and mysterious Dr. Omar;Gene Tierney,so breathtakingly gorgeous as the eager to be corrupted Poppy, and best of all -Ona Munson giving the performance of her career as Mother Gin Sling -a Machiavellian revenger whose serpentine coiffure and mocking nonchalance conceal a heart consumed by pain.”The Shanghai Gesture” is Josef Von Sternberg’s last memorable Hollywood film and though not as well known as the great Marlene Dietrich collaborations certainly merits to be ranked with them.

OK people, what is Fafner?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fafner: Complete Collection! Click Here

Before I get into the story, I will try to answer a hypothetical question first: Who should not and who should watch Fafner.

To begin with, if you are a die-hard fan of Evangelion or Gundam etc. than most probably you will not want to watch this one because it has some similarities with the previous mention animes indeed; and you most probably will `blow away’ a great anime like this. On the other hand, people who would like to watch a very good anime, with strong storyline, twists, romance, lots of action and of course Mechas (belongs to the so called sci-fi category) than you should watch this one.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fafner: Complete Collection! Click Here

Let us proceed to the storyline:

It starts with the life of people, teenagers going to school, adults to work etc. by introducing the viewer to their everyday life. The place where the story starts is called Tatsumiya Island. To make the long story short, aliens attack earth and obviously the Island gets under attack, devastating their lives and throwing the teenagers into battle; basically, because they are the ones who are able to fly the Mechas. Additionally, power games will start to evolve, exhausting battles all over the globe will occur, between sort of government and military parties etc. and all the teenagers are caught in the middle of all this. As the series proceed, many questions will be raised (which will be answered – directly or indirectly – in the end of the series), the bounds between the main protagonists will become stronger (and of course romance), the viewer will witness all the emotional rollercoaster that these youngsters will go through and some of them will even die.

This sums up the story. I could get into more details and tell you what will go on in every episode but I refrained myself from doing this because I believe that if someone decides to watch the series than I would give away the entire suspense and twists of it.

Overall critique about the series:

If you are into Mechas for a while, then most probably you have watched Mecha series and are familiar with the common pattern that this kind of animes are following: teenagers are the ones who can fly the Mechas, alien invasion, battles, romance, power games etc (as for the good guy vs. bad guy, in the Mecha series this usually presents a grey zone). Therefore, why should someone watch Fafner? If you are not into animes for a long time, should you watch Fafner?

The answer would be yes. First of all, because of its animation, which is very good. Second, because of its storyline, which although is based on the common pattern that is been explained above, yet, it manages to bring forth new ideas, a solid and strong storyline, many twists and mainly till the final episodes you will not be able to foresee its final conclusion. Even if you are a die-hard fan of Evangelion, RahXephon etc. this one is definitely worth a watch from you. As for the action, the series are packed with it. Third, because of its dub; in other words, if you belong to the category of people that instead of Japanese would prefer the English dub, it is very good done and professional orchestrated. Thumbs up!

Apart from it, if you buy the box set or the complete collection, then the box is exactly the one you see in the picture, which is very strong, like a shelf and doesn’t brake easily. As for extras, the usual stuff like previews of other animes, not credit opening/ending and so forth.

To the most obvious question: Buying it or not? To be honest, if you can afford the money than I will definitely recommend these series to you, if, you can not afford the money than try to rent it and watch it.

To conclude these series are highly recommended!

I hope that I could help you…
