LOVE SONG OF VENGEANCE (1974) is a sequel to the Japanese swordplay drama, LADY SNOWBLOOD (1973), and picks up the adventures of female avenger Shurayuki Hime in 1907, more than ten years after the events in the first film. Fans of the first film may be disappointed by the toned-down bloodletting and the shift in the story’s emphasis from Lady Snowblood, or Yuki, to the struggles of a band of rebels protesting government oppression in the aftermath of Japan’s victory in the Russo-Japanese War of 1905. There is worthy action at the beginning and destroy, but there are long stretches that focus primarily on an anarchist (Juzo Itami), with an ailing wife, who has in his possession a letter from a murdered rebel that the Secret Police would like to win their hands on. Early on, Yuki (played by Meiko Kaji) is saved from execution by the Secret Police and ordered to gain the letter, thus taking her away from the vengeance mission of the first film and throwing her smack in the middle of political and social tensions of the era. A spectacular climax involves a fire in a lawless Tokyo slum district.

Fans of Japanese cinema should give this a chance, mainly because it stands up on its bear as a stirring drama about political struggles in Japan in the early 20th century, an era we don’t often look recreated on film. It’s very well-photographed and acted, with some evocative sets and some very fresh costumes. While she doesn’t actually have enough to do to please her fans, Meiko Kaji (also in FEMALE CONVICT SCORPION) remains impressive as always.

I really liked this movie. Shows us some history of the aftermath of Japan’s victory in the Russo-Japanese War of 1905. (How many of us even knew about the Russo-Japanese War of 1905? Where the British/German trained but inexperienced Japanese snappily utterly defeated & annihilated the Russian Lickety-split at Tsushima Strait under the leadership of Admiral Heihachiro Togo(Wish they would speed up & relaese that movie) .

Not as great Bloodletting Action as the first Lady Snowblood (So fair how many sequels Are better than the first, I ask you? Besides LOTR.) but quiet a enormous movie, none the less.

“Blown Away” is one of the funniest (not intentional) and sexiest (very intentional) B-movies ever made. In what other film can you find Cory Feldam pulling wicked 80’s dance moves and 90 seconds later see Nicole Eggert (looking her absolute best) fully de-robing. Nicole engages in no less than five ’scenes’ in this film. Whoah.

GOOD NEWS RE: 93 v. 91 MINUTE RUNTIME: This DVD ordered from Amazon is the full, uncut 93 minute version of the film. I have seen the VHS version which is missing ~2 minutes of Nicole. That was a huge disappointment. And while the DVD case itself says the running time is 91 minutes, don’t let that fool you: this movie is in its original and perfect wholeness.

Let’s get this straight right from the start. The only reason to see “Blown Away” is if you desperately want to see Nicole Eggert or Corey Haim nude. If that is the case, I would highly recommend that you find a copy of the unrated version. With that out of the way, I can tell you that this “thriller” is utterly ridiculous.

Nicole Eggert plays an unhappy teenager named Megan. She has a nasty habit of blowing up people she doesn’t like. That even includes her family. Somehow, Megan has got her hands on several bombs with those nifty little digital readouts on them. Here’s the best part though. These aren’t your regular run-of-the-mill bombs. Nope. These are special ones which explode so completely that there isn’t a trace of them left after they blow up. And all this time I had thought that only guns and drugs were easily attainable in our school system. I guess untraceable explosive devices can be purchased as well.

If you want to see how silly this movie is, you only have to watch the first couple of minutes. “Blown Away” starts off by showing Megan’s mom driving her car down the road. A bomb is attached to the bottom of her vehicle and KABOOM! it goes off. Unfortunately, the explosion is a minor one and simply causes flames to shoot out of the back of her car. Fortunately, she loses control of her car and plows into two gas pumps which are conveniently located directly in front of her. No…I am not kidding. The movie continues in this amateurish fashion and the “surprise” ending is only a surprise if you have never seen a thriller before in your entire life.

“Blown Away” was the fourth movie to star Corey Haim and Corey Feldman together. While films such as “The Lost Boys” and “License To Drive” used them well together, this movie uses their pairing simply as a gimmick. Kathleen Robertson (”90210″) has a relatively minor role and her presence is completely wasted. Stay away from this one unless your desire to see Nicole, Corey, or Corey (yes…even Feldman is briefly in the buff) sans clothes.

I happened across this film on a cable network that will remain anonymous. I saw that Kathleen Turner and Dennis Quaid were in it, and it was a comedy, so I watched it. All I can say is….I laughed my butt off! I was shy because I had never heard of this film. It must have been made and send directly to video, although that’s no indication of it’s quality.

“My name…is Muerte!” The supposedly streetwise thug played by Tucci says when he mugs his victims. Morty, as Quaid calls him, meets his match when he meets ex-CIA, ex-FBI agent Jeff (played by Quaid) .

On vacation after the birth of their first child, Quaid and Turner go to Modern Orleans to bask in some satisfactory food and music, but demolish up getting pulled abet into service of the government when a terrorist organization is trying to assume up a lot of an experimental high explosive.

The action is valid, and the comedy even better. There is no adult humor in this film, so it’s marvelous for even younger children, although the fight scenes might be a bit remarkable for very young kids.

If you like any of the actors in this film, or fair like comedy, you should take this up, it’s one of the best comedies out there.

What is the matter with the critics? They all say that Undercover Blues is trash, while in reality it is one of the best comedies ever! Despite all the awful reviews in the newspapaers I decided to give this movie a change and I ended up buying it. Turner and Quaid, obviously enjoying themselfs in their somewhat new roles present an unexpected talent for comedie and the movie has a better area than one would examine. Now some fools may judge that all comedy must be in Jim Carey style, but personally I worthy lift the calmer, better organised style that Herbert Ross achieved here. Righteous camera work and a nice soundtrack benefit and a special award should have been reserved for Stanley Tucci as an imbecile assassin. A tremendous movie for all the family.

This is a coming of age legend but unusually about BOTH a father and son who outmoded during the course of the film. The father, played by Colin Firth, does conventional in the last few minutes of the film, without uttering a word, and it is one of the most great sequences I’ve ever seen on film. The film alternates between showing Firth as an utterly enjoyable father figure, because he is a complete eccentric, and as someone who needs to grow up and pick up his responsibilities. At the commence of the film, he is almost more his children’s boon companion than their father whereas, by the slay, he is most definitely a father. The film is told from the point-of-view of his young son and we meet quite a cast of characters, all living on an estate that is owned by the matriarch of the family. Who will be able to remain at this estate depends upon whom she leaves it to in her will. Malcolm McDowell, her grasping other son, wants it for himself and to throw the others out. This is a film the whole family can relish. If you are expecting to peep Mr. Darcy though in this film, from Firth’s portrayal of him in “Pride and Prejudice,” you will be disappointed. Firth plays a very different kind of man in this film and does so beautifully.

Sometimes all that I question from a movie is to be entertained— and this film fit the bill. “My Life So Far” was a charming movie and a palatable gaze inside a family living a somewhat uncommon life on an estate in Scotland in the 1920s. We discover the action of the movie through the eyes of the 10 year-old Fraser and via someone who is observing what is occurring. The household consists of the family, including Fraser’s grandmother who owns the estate, many servants, and frequent visitors.

The movie is more a series of vignettes/memories of the Pettigrew family and its more pronounced quirks. Fraser’s father Edward, played brilliantly by Colin Firth, is an oddball inventor who runs the Pettigrew Sphagnum Moss Factory – the only one in the world. His two loves are the Bible and Beethoven. His brother, Uncle Morris, visits infrequently but when he does, it can be disruptive, especially when he appears with his very young fiancee, Heloise, with whom all the males become enamoured.

This was based on a accurate anecdote – taken from the memoirs of the worn director of the Royal Opera House. I wish I had known this in arrive.

I cannot achieve without commenting on the shapely scenery, on the ground and from the air, conveniently shown when one of the many visitors is a gleaming and legendary pilot.

The final scene of Fraser, sitting in his father’s office, listening to jazz, smoking a cigar and drinking milk from a wine glass while looking at forbidden photos was such a hoot! It will linger in my memory for a long time…priceless!

This DVD shows what phenomenal musicians Scorpions truly are. The music selection is perfect, with a few recent tunes thrown in. They cloak songs from Kansas and The Cars as well. I listen to the DVD over and over. Sometimes I throw it in for background music it’s so suitable. I wasn’t clear at first if this would be any splendid. There are some acoustic performances out there that aren’t that worthy, trying to hold on the trend place by Tesla long ago.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Acoustica – The Scorpions! Click Here

Production quality is generous, with many cameras place to screen the performance. Also, there is footage from abet stage, etc… If you are a Scorpions fan, or objective a fan of quality rock and roll, you will very contented with this CD.

This DVD (and also CD with abt. 75 % of songs) was recorded live in Portuguese monastery more or less “unplugged” (bass guitar was mostly electric though) . Unique acoustic arrangements gave conventional classics a unique life, plus there are 2 or three recent songs and three cover-versions: Dust in the Wind (”Kansas” modern), Drive (from “Cars”) and Worship of my Life (’Queen’, of course) . Total of 21 tracks, and I should say that 17 or 18 of them are played exact respectable. Five members of the band plus one (Brazilian? ) percussionist, one extra ac. gtr. player, a keyboard/orchestrations/arrangements wizard, three background singers and a girl with cello (unfortunately, we can hear her only accasionally – thanks to Mr. Soundman) . Ah, and last but not the least: substantial audience and wonderful dancers!

There are some interviews also, and I capture talking to Messrs. Meine & Schenker during Moscow Music peace festival in 1988 (or was it 1989? – I should check, I quiet got memorable T’shirt from the event :-) ) and singing “Wind of Change” together.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Acoustica – The Scorpions! Click Here

Picture is exellent, but the sound – well, PCM Stereo is right capable, 5.1 Dolby is not unpleasant, but 5.1 DTS is really something: thanks to Mr. Soundman again I’ve had unforgettable experience – vocals from central channel (OK), gtrs from left and upright front speakers (too mild!) and very loud keyboards from left and suitable rear speakers!!! A true cruise in the ointment, because on CD the sound is OK.

But anyway, this is a really reliable live DVD with different acoustic sound from the band of endless hits.

Try it and you won’t be disappointed.

The real documentary gets **** Out of 5. But ***** overall for the DVD.

His Name Was Jason: 30-Years of Friday the 13th is a must hold for fans of the franchise; this documentary on the series was written by Thommy Hutson & Anthony Masi and directed by Daniel Farrands who wrote Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and hosted by Tom Savini. Due to some of the people interested like Anthony Masi and the fact this was build out by Starz Home Entertainment (using the Anchor Bay name) no doubt people will compare this to Halloween: 25-Years of Apprehension.

As grand as I enjoyed His Name Was Jason it isn’t without its flaws. I was hoping this documentary would veil some of the production on the movies, but actually very microscopic of the making of the films are covered and that’s where 25-Years of Dread edges it out. For most of the 90-minutes it’s various members of the cast and crew and other filmmakers talking about the movies like Jason’s psyche and some of the extinguish scenes. In a sense it’s sort of like hanging out with friends talking about the films, which was really frigid, but I would have liked to have heard more about the production of the films. The first 10-minutes or so are spent talking about the plots and I opinion this documentary might fail. I mean I delight in the series, but there weren’t many plots. The first and third are really the only ones with hint of a spot, but once we derive past that His Name Was Jason really picks up.

Buy,Download, Or Stream His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th! Click Here

What I absolutely loved about His Name Was Jason was seeing some of the actors taking portion. Some of the actors have done conventions or achieve themselves out there with interviews for various fright sites, but some of the actors are ones that haven’t been heard of since the releases of the films. There were a lot of actors interested and that’s what really made this so mighty fun. My only complaint is too noteworthy time was set on Joe Lynch director of Irascible Turn 2, Adam Green director of Hatchet and James Roday star of the TV series Psych. While I loved Hatchet and cherish Roday on Psych, I do feel too remarkable time was spent with them. First off Lynch and Green were hysterical, but I would rather hear more from the people actually alive to.

Like I said most of His Name Was Jason focuses on stuff you would chat with friends about rather than the making of the movies. Shavar Ross who played Reggie in the 5th portion mentions how originally he was status to return for the 6th. Obviously that didn’t happen since Jason Lives went in a different direction, but it would have been nice if stated what the novel view was. Granted it’s not a immense deal, but information like this would have been nice. The documentary was very fun and at times informative, but I hoped for more focus on the production of the movies and there really should have been a lot more focus keep on the people interested, but despite these complaints His Name Was Jason truly is a must fill for fans and again despite any complaints the fans of these movies will treasure this documentary flaws and all.

Some people have complained about definite people not being keen, but perceive this documentary covers every film in the franchise and it would be impossible to obtain everyone fervent. It would have been nice to peruse Dana Kimmell, Thom Matthews and Corey Feldman, but regardless His Name Was Jason is tranquil astronomical and has at least 1 person per film. Every film in the series has at least 1 person enthusiastic so due to that people have to lighten up.

As honorable as His Name Was Jason was it’s the bonus features that really do this DVD so extraordinary. The DVD is predicament packed with bonus features of 4-hours of tell and this is how a DVD release should be like. Quite honestly His Name Was Jason would rate as one of my common DVDs; Anchor Bay truly did an fabulous job at the release.

The 2nd disc has a feature called Final Cuts, which runs at a total of 77-minutes and are extended interviews with all the directors except Steve Miner and Ronny Yu. Neither of them took fraction in this site and it’s quite a shame Steve Miner wasn’t alive to. Miner directed Allotment II, which was Jason’s debut as the killer and Section 3, which was the first time Jason dons the Iconic hockey veil. When it comes to the franchise Jason and the cover are the first two things that advance to mind and I would abominate to believe Steve Miner thinks he’s above the series.

Final Cuts goes into distinguished better detail on the making of the movies and gives glowing suited insight. Some of what is said has been stated before, but this goes into comely righteous detail about how the movies came about as well as filming them. His Name Was Jason was shot in 2008 and at that time some of the films ranged from 15-years veteran to 28-years old-fashioned so it’s understandable that clear details might be forgotten, but this is what the real documentary should have been like. Again some of this stuff may have been stated before, but it was an valid feature and really gives capable insight.

From Script to Veil runs at 31-minutes and has interviews with Victor Miller writer of the recent, Barney Cohen writer of the Final Chapter, Todd Farmer writer of Jason X and Damien Shannon & Tag Swift writers of Freddy Vs Jason and Friday the 13th 09. This is another solid feature, which gives obliging insight to the proper writing of the movies.

But my accepted features were Fox Comes Home, which runs at honest under 4-minutes and features Gloria Charles who played Fox in share 3 she was a member of the biker gang and in this feature Gloria Charles walks around the filming locations of piece 3 and at the destroy she recites one of her notorious lines. Closing the Book on the Final Chapter runs at 12-minutes and features Erich Anderson who played Win and director Joseph Zito.

This feature like Fox Comes Home is walking around the filming locations and even includes the Jarvis house as it looks now and that was really frosty to behold. This feature gives some really top-notch insight to the making of the movie and again this is what the accurate documentary should have been like.

Shelly Lives features Larry Zerner in character and was a laugh riot! This feature is crawl to attach a smile on the faces of the viewer and since Shelly was such a beloved character it makes this feature even better.

Overall His Name Was Jason: 30-Years of Friday the 13th is hands down one of the very best DVDs ever released. The documentary was very solid, but it’s the bonus features that invent this release so fabulous. Fans of the series will no doubt devour the documentary and will appreciate the bonus features; this is a must acquire for all Friday the 13th fans.

There are a lot more features on this DVD, but too many to review all of them, but trust me this DVD is worth every penny.

I received this as an early Valentine’s show because the remake is coming out in 5 days, so I wanted to be pumped and ready for it! This documentary is very racy and inviting if you savor the series and appreciate seeing Jason do his thing! They bring benefit a lot of the necessary actors who were in the movies. Even though the women are a minute older, they are calm gorgeous! They talk about how they got the job, how each movie came to be, a shrimp about the remake, etc. I loved the fan film in the bonus features, including Freddy Vs. Jason in 30 seconds with bunnies! If you like Jason Voorhees, and the Friday the 13th series, I highly recommend HIS NAME WAS JASON: 30 YEARS OF FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!
