This is a astounding, subtly deep romantic comedy about a group of film makers and fashion designers in Paris. With exciting, fully developed characters, no violence and steady sex, it is the kind of thing Hollywood would remake poorly (e.g., compare Abre Los Ojos with Vanilla Sky) if they could–but they can’t. Abortion, infidelity, “feminism” vs. “misogyny,” the craving for recognition and fame–and their inequity from the search for accurate art and cherish are all handled with a most ravishing touch.
This is a not so keen movie completely redeemed by a unbelievable performance by Helena Bonham Carter. She’s lovely, heartbreaking, comic and oh how she can verbalize french!!!

“Schoolhouse Rock!’ makes its return just in time for Earth Day (on April 22nd) and educating children on recycling, protecting the Earth via the ocean, the rainforest and more! “Schoolhouse Rock! Earth” makes a wonderful educational tool for parents or teachers wanting to educate their children through music about taking care of the planet.

Back in the early 70’s, an animated series known as “Schoolhouse Rock!” captured the attention of young Americans as it was seen on television but it became very instrumental in helping people learn about mathematics, grammar and science.
The animation was from an idea based by David McCall who knew his son was having problems with multiplication tables, but his son was able to know the lyrics to the popular songs of that time. So, what if children remembered the lyrics to songs that were educational. McCall eventually created animated versions of the songs and they were sold to ABC for their Saturday morning lineup and for 12 years the animation was shown on television. With the regular broadcasts ending in 2001.

There have been a few new songs dealing with money and politics, especially for the release of the 30th Anniversary DVD collection of “School House Rock”. And in March 2009, children will get to learn the latest “Schoolhouse Rock!” music as this time, the theme goes Green with the release of “Schoolhouse Rock! Earth” to celebrate Earth Day (April 22nd).
The creators of the original series have created new songs bringing back characters such as Interplanet Janet and Mr. Morton.
The DVD features eleven original songs with new contemporary animation which helps children learn about global warming from a polar bear’s point of view, carbon footprints from an animated Sasquatch, the importance of tropical rain forests, benefits of solar and wind power and other important “green” concepts.
The songs featured on this DVD are:
* Report from the North Pole
* The Little Things We Do
* The Trash Can Band
* You Oughta Be Savin’ Water
* The Rainforest
* Save the Ocean
* FatCat Blue: The Clean Rivers Song
* A Tiny Urban Zoo
* Solar Power to the People
* Windy and the Windmills
* Don’t Be a Carbon Sasquatch
The DVD also contains an extra video titled “The Three R’s” by “Hannah Montana” star Mitchell Musso and the original classic version of “The Energy Blues”.
VIDEO & AUDIO:
The video is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 1:66:1 (enhanced for 16×9 televisions) and features hand drawn animations. Simple and similar style to the classic “Schoolhouse Rock!” animations from the past. Animation that are line drawings with no major shading or detail. Simplified animation.
As for the audio, audio is presented in English via Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and a French language track. The music comes clear via your front channel speakers and no problems with audio.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Unfortunately, there are no special features.
JUDGMENT CALL:
The main drive for the “Schoolhouse Rock!” animations is to help educate children and help them remember songs and hopefully they will do well in their homework. I can tell you that growing up with “Schoolhouse Rock!”, songs such as “Conjunction Junction”, “Naughty Number Nine”, “Electricity, Electricity”, “I’m Just a Bill” and “The Preamble” were big songs and actually did help me in quizzes for school because I remembered these songs and stuck in my head.
Now as an adult, I watched these videos with my 6-year-old son and there are songs that really stuck in our heads such as “Save the Ocean”. In fact, I’ve caught him singing the song and many other songs featured on the DVD and thus I know the intention of children being educated through music and learning about ecology and protecting the Earth does work with their viewing of “SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! EARTH”.
With Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, it’s definitely good timing for the release of this DVD and I can see parents and teachers utilizing the DVD to help educate children about protecting the ocean, the rainforest and learning about recycling, solar power and windpower as well.
For parents and those of us who grew up with the original, this newer DVD keeps the original feeling intact, especially since the creators of the original are involved in the making of this version. Also, a similar style of singing (well, of course, a bit modernized as some parts have a bit of rapping) as the original. But the music is catchy, stays in your mind and you’ll find yourself singing along with your children.
“SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! EARTH” is a very good educational tool for children and safe songs for children and their families to learn and sing along to.
When I first heard about SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! EARTH!, I thought the DVD was a collection of existing animated songs from a series I must have missed a few years back. To my surprise and delight, it is not only a brand-new production but features a majority of the original talent behind the beloved series.
Those of us who loved Saturday Morning TV remember fondly these short interstitials between the cartoons and Krofft shows, teaching math, grammar, social studies and more with catchy songs and ingratiating animation.
In this new DVD, the co-creators were involved creatively (something that should happen MORE when recreating classics like this): Executive Producer George Newall and Animation Director Phil Kimmelman, as well as Producer Radford Stone. The animation looks exactly like the original series, except perhaps for some image clarity created by today’s technology. The segments joined the songs feature three bears with more flowing animation; the contrast against the song segments which only underscore the lengths taken to be true to the original series.
And almost all the musical talent returned! Master trumpeter and Merv Griffin TV sidekick Jack Sheldon, whose “Conjunction Junction” voice is a vital part of the series legacy; Tony winning composer/lyricist/singer Lynn Ahrens, who has become one of the biggest names on Broadway (SEUSSICAL, RAGTIME) and of course, Musical Director Bob Dorough, who wrote and performed most of the songs both here and in the original. Even the great Bob Kaliban, who did voices not only for SSCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! but also co-starred on camera on the wonderful but short-lived series DRAWING POWER, returned!
Some very distinguished newcomers have also joined the fold: one song is sung by Tituss Burgess, currently playing Sebastian on Broadway in THE LITTLE MERMAID. And not only do the composers of the new songs for the London and Broadway version MARY POPPINSs (Anthony Drewe and George Stiles) offer a song, George is one of the singers.
Plus, HANNAH MONTANA costar Mitchel Musso performs in a video that adds environmental lyrics to the classic Three is a Magic Number.
By the way, the sound track album was released on Walt Disney Records, but only by download through iTunes or amazon.
Here’s hoping this is the first of many NEW DVD and soundtracks from SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK!

For those of you who have a common Director you may have found categorization by character quite frustrating. Personally I don’t care for a whole disc of Bugs, or a whole disc of Daffy; I want a whole disc of Chuck or a whole disc of Friz. Even the handsome episode lists above, which really do bear all the information you need, are not organized according to how the episodes appear on the discs in the collection. To remedy this plight I have the following list to provide you with the episodes, organized in the order they appear on the discs, and who directed them. I hope this proves useful to someone, and will keep them from having to do this all over again themselves.

14.You Ought to be in Pictures (Friz Freleng)
The marketing procure said last year defending the omission of “What’s Opera Doc? ” and “One Froggy Evening” from the first volume is that if they had all the best cartoons on the first area what will they do for an encore? Well, even without these two classics this state would detached stand up as a ample sequel to the first volume (Which was impartial as wonderful despite the pedantic naysayers.)
Here some of the reasons why this region is worth your money;
First off the restoration job is honest like the first place and it is all uncut, so the addition of all the material which Cartoon Network might think dismal for your child is included, but let’s gaze at some of the best toons…
Porky in Wackyland
Great to observe that they aren’t tremulous to stick a sunless and white cartoon in there especially this expansive surreal classic which introduced the Dodo bird.
The Dover Boys
The cartoon that introduced smear animation that was despised by the studio producers but is now stale in practically all television animation. Especially Cartoon Network.
You Ought to Be in Pictures
Great one that has Daffy and Porky interacting with steady people. The droll thing is the genuine people aren’t actors. They were all workers at Termite Terrace.
Three Dinky Bops
Friz Freleng finally let loose a puny with this highly creative swinging select of the three limited pigs. I haven’t seen this one in ages, it’s practically Freleng’s best work.
A Corny Concerto
Great parody on Disney’s Fantasia by Bob Clampett. This region really pays tribute to him.
Of course that’s barely even the tip of the iceberg of the quality of this position. All those Road Runner and Sylvester and Tweety cartoons might set aside some people off but I can’t peruse why you shouldn’t procure this location if you aren’t a fan… Unless you’re broke I guess…
POST-THOUGHTS;
After seen the state I can say that Warner Bros. is very bold for including shorts like Have You Got Any Castles uncut. I thank them for that and I’d like to add that disc 4 is the best disc on the space with disc 1 in second area. Other highlights include; Ren And Stimpy creator, John K’s commentary on The Expansive Piggy Bank Robbery, a dead-serious patriotic short by Chuck Jones called Archaic Glory and the cartoon that got Tex Avery fired; Heckling Hare. I’d also like to reiterate, these shorts are uncut and exactly how they were when they were released with the exception of the blue ribbon title cards. The abrupt ending to Heckling Hare was how that short was originally released and the footage that was meant to be there was gone because the studios didn’t like it and this of course angered Tex Avery. So in case anyone was suspicious about that there’s the explanation, so they are uncut from their recent release date.

Okay, I absorb we all know who Indiana Jones, is, honest? I grew up with Indy and my kids will be the same. This recent box-set is the definitive Indy box-set. This position features the fresh classic trilogy plus the newest addition, “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. Impartial like the situation that came out in May for the 4th movie, this status comes with the fresh special editions of the fresh 3 movies. The best share about this region is that the 4th movie is the 2-Disc special edition and not the lame 1-disc version. My only complaints with this spot are 1) that the DVD cases are those really lame slim cases and not regular sized DVD cases and 2) the bonus disc from the new trilogy boxset is missing (although the special features makeup for that is most respects) and 3) while the conceal is cold, the order of each movie conceal is weird; you inaugurate from the top fair and work your blueprint around. All in all, this is the best Indy box-set out there and it’s worth getting. Here’s my ratings for each movie:

INDIANA JONES-THE COMPLETE ADVENTURE COLLECTION is a four DVD place collection of the four Indiana Jones films. For those who don’t know, the four Indiana Jones movies are:
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (that’s the new title; I resist Lucas revisionism as mighty as possible)
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
The first three films were released in the spring of 2008 as special edition discs. The only thing unique here is the inclusion of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. Other than that movie and the extras that are included with it, there is nothing else recent here.
Therefore, if you already have purchased the first three movies, honest steal a copy of INDIANA JONES AND THE CRYSTAL SKULL (it has the same extras that are included on this disc) and attach yourself thirty or forty dollars. If you don’t occupy those movies, I’d mild relate you hold them separately. Prices have dropped since the special edition DVDs were released in the spring and you can acquire all four of the individual movies for a total of about $5-$10 less for what it costs for this boxed station.

Even though the display ran for several years, it was definitely one of the most underrated cartoons of the era. Unlinke most toons during that era, it actually had continuity with a expansive record. The sage begins with the rotten wizard Wrathamon (while conquering villages for his master Sett) placing a spell on Conan’s parents & grandfather. The spell turned them to “living stone.” As such Conan, with the abet of novel allies embarks upon a quest to undo the spell and keep the world from Sett.

It’s really a mountainous product. Very nice box art on all sides of the box (except the inside
) and of all the CDs in the exiguous ed. Lucky Star DVD boxes, the one in this one is my approved. My only scrape with all the puny ed. boxes is that you only come by printed shirts rather than the loyal uniforms. I wouldn’t mind if it was some cheap version of the sincere thing, but fair a printed shirt is dull.

Stream Atlantis: The Lost Empire Movie Online.
Movie Title: Atlantis: The Lost Empire Atlantis: The Lost Empire is available for streaming or downloading. |
For the most share, Atlantis is a fun, popcorn-munching movie that’s a valid treat, and takes some refreshing steps away from Disney’s usual formula of dancing teacups and ambitious orphans. However, it is not without problems.
First off, the good: This movie is shapely. There seems to be an attitude with some moviegoing audiences that movies with a lot of visual effects are “unprejudiced a bunch of CGI” or concentrated too deeply on special effects. Proper, Atlantis has plenty of computer-generated images, but they blend seamlessly with the animation and accomplish for a visually resplendent movie. I know the words “visually ravishing” win bandied about a lot, but this movie had some serious eye-candy — enough to produce me want to discover it again.
The record, while not revolutionary (the mythical and mostly nonexistent “fresh station” is highly overrated in my book anyway), is refreshing and not painfully post-modern, as too many movies of this type seem to be. No one says “don’t go there,” or “talk to the hand,” which I fully expected to happen. There were no cute animal sidekicks, which I found almost impossible to hold, especially in a Disney film. For the most section, this is a movie that can appeal to adults as well as kids — that is, seldom insulting the intelligence of either.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Atlantis: The Lost Empire! Click Here
There are some tremendous, inviting action scenes, with hot air balloons, flying mechanical shark-ships (not as uninteresting as it sounds), high-speed chases, and large underwater monsters.
Now for the not-so-good. The movie rushes through its material so snappy it can barely net out of its possess contrivance. Characters almost perambulate over one another in their excited mosey to blurt out expository dialogue. Moments of characterization go by so mercurial, you’ll miss them if you blink. Presumably, this is some sort of pandering to the Pokemon generation who can’t preserve their attention focused on anything for more than three or four seconds, but I feel this movie would have been distinguished improved by extending it, if only by about fifteen minutes.
This mad-dash school of filmmaking applies to the middle act of the film as well. In one scene, the main character gushes over a ravishing and mature stone pillar — seconds before the demolitions expert blows it to bits. A comical moment, but Atlantis almost slides into self-parody in this regard; the whole movie spends a few short seconds establishing the aesthetic setting of Atlantis, and then promptly sets off a chain of explosions or another hasten scene. The biggest annoyance for me was the fantastic, Nautilus-like submarine that bag smashed to pieces before we even gather to really eye how icy it is. Disappointing. I objective wish they could have slowed down for a couple of scenes.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Atlantis: The Lost Empire! Click Here
I went into this movie expecting a lot less than what I got. It starts out a shrimp clumsily, and (as previously mentioned) whips through the exposition entirely too hastily. But the chronicle is curious, and the finale satisfying.
The movie does believe some material that might be a dinky strong for kids — there is a rather high body count, though all the death takes state “off-screen” — you don’t really recognize anyone getting killed, at least not directly. As violent pronounce goes, kids have probably seen noteworthy worse on network TV.
Overall, I really recommend you leer this movie on the ample cover, with the beefy sound and narrate — this is one movie that pays off well in Dolby Digital.
Overall, this is first-rate fun. It’s an arresting film, highly imaginative, and visually spectacular, with a tale that moves very expeditiously albeit thoroughly confusingly. I happily recommend it for family viewing.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Atlantis: The Lost Empire! Click Here
Compared to novel Disney releases such as Cinderella II – Dreams Approach Fair (Special Edition), 101 Dalmatians 2, and all of the other poorly done and profit-driven knockoffs, this film is an current gem. The animation is ample, the characters are enthralling and fun to ogle, and the overall chronicle is compelling, as well as very fast-paced. The movie certainly is salubrious for kids as young as three or four, despite some of the more esoteric, non-sensical region twists. We’ve got spectacular scenery, gadgets, battles, action, and explosions and fire, more than enough to maintain the microscopic ones fully engaged throughout. No sex, no drugs, no profanity, and only a shrimp bit of blood (although the dreadful guys most certainly do find killed, neither graphically nor gloatingly) .
Most impressive in this film is the artistic vision. Atlantis provides a fabulous opportunity to be creative, and the animators do not disappoint. The relatively recent (1907) setting allows some technical and scientific freedom for the animators, which was taken bulky advantage of. Everything is expansive, massive in scale, from the steamship and its submarine, to the Leviathan guardian, to the tunnels and artifacts of Atlantis. For me, this is the most appetizing portion of the film, simply looking at the landscapes and backgrounds the animators have provided as backdrops for the action. This is qualified work, truly spectacular.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Atlantis: The Lost Empire! Click Here
The cast is wonderfully diverse, ethnically, physically, and in terms of education, abilities, and hygiene. It’s a really truly honestly and genuinely amazing rainbow of diversity and teamwork, because, you know, it’s only when we let go of our prejudices and overlook stereotypes that we can triumph over adversity. That being said, the strangest and filthiest member of the crew is the non-stop butt of jokes, derision, and less than thoughtful treatment by the rest of the team.
There’s a minor spot, though. As dad to a six- and three-year-old, I’ve seen this film maybe 60 times in the past three months. As many times as I’ve watched it, I tranquil don’t choose the entire conception of the Atlantean power crystal, how it “chooses” a host, what the crystal-host does, what exactly becomes physically of the crystal-host, and how the chosen individual interacts with it. Distinct, the impossible-to-miss end-state is a human-interfaced and -generated automatic defensive system which protects the entire city, but all of the fable elements don’t obtain it sure how this all comes together. This is a bit anal, I know, but it objective doesn’t compose sense.
Violence, yeah, there’s enough of it, but precious slight blood, and no gore. It’s family-friendly violence, where the terrible guys recede neatly and completely in spectacular swirling, spiraling balls of beautifully rendered, parti-colored fire, with no suffering depicted. Early on we peruse an entire submarine and crew go down, and a itsy-bitsy memorial service to commemorate the loss of 200-odd folks. There is also some satisfactory explosions during the final battle, with ball-of-fire ends to both terrible guys and mighty fewer non-star Atlantaean grand guys. None of the awful guys earn it out alive, and the two bad-guy leaders die more or less visibly, but again, without blood or gore. The one, probably most assert instance of violence, is the bad-guy leader punching the enfeebled king of the Atlanteans in the stomach. The king later dies of his (internal) injuries, but the time-separation between the act and its results lessens the impact of the killing.
The uplifting aspects are unbiased as worthy, and in the demolish the focus of the narrative. We have the worship sage between the leads, as well as a totally predictable yet nonetheless distinguished shift in alliance from the established team members to that of the Atlanteans when it comes time to do the true thing. We leer treasure and sacrifice, traits my six-year-old picked up on with no prompting from me.
All in all, this is a very toothsome film. I dwell on the violence to narrate only, so don’t select it to mean that the film is chubby of violence; it is not. Overall, it’s about adventure, the excitement and wonder of discovery, and what can be done when you decide the hard apt over the easy execrable.
